Fevers and Birhtday Parties

My 4 year old had a fever most of the day yesterday and was up vomiting most of the night last night.( I just love it when I don't get any sleep.) He was feeling much better this morning and his fever seemed to have subsided. He was outside playing, he was eating and chattering non-stop. We were invited to a birthday party tonight for one of their friends and I thought since he was feeling better we could go. The party was at a movie theatre so there was pizza, cake, games and gifts before the movie and I figured if he wasn't doing good we would leave before the movie. well, he insisted he was fine so we went inside. Even my 16 month old, her first movie and she was having a great time, sitting there eating popcorn and laughing when everyone else was laughing. My 4 year old fell asleep on my lap and I was actually enjoying myself. Until my little Diva got here feet stuck in the back of the chair and the only way to get her out was to hand off my sleeping child. Which woke him up and he started crying and I tried to give the baby to her oldest brother but he started freaking out because he had to go to the bathroom. So there I was, in the middle of the theatre, with three kids, popcorn everywhere, sodas everywhere, one missing shoe (the baby's) and two of them insisting that I hold them. The birthday girl's mom quickly scooped up the sick one and I scooped up the baby, (leaving the shoe behind), tapped the bathroom kid on the shoulder and attempted to make our exit.
Out in the lobby, she put him down and said, "he feels real warm again"
Sure enough, his fever was back.
They both fell asleep on the drive home and now I am waiting for my 7 year old to get home because he couldn't leave with out seeing the end of the movie and the birthday girl's mom said she would bring him home.(and hopefully the shoe)
The baby is asleep and the fever child has had Motrin and seems to be feeling great!!
I should have known not to attempt it, now I will never know how the Cinderella Story ends!! ha ha

Sunshine Boy

I have 3 kids, a boy who's 7, a boy who's 4 and the Diva of the house who is 16 months. I'd like to share with you a littlie bit about my middle child, he is every bit the middle child. Mild-mannered, easy-going, can entertain himself with very little for long periods of time: he's my Sunshine Boy.
A few weeks ago we were riding in the back of the van together and we saw a Hummer go by and we were all talking about them and how they were at one time an army truck, so B4, says "I love army cars, I want to be in the army."
to which I say, "Oh, there's lots of things to do in this world, you don't need to join the army" (Now I am very appreciative for the lives sacrificed for our freedom and our country, I just was trying to keep my 4 year old's mind open to countless other possibilities) "well, Mom, somebody needs to protect this place!" he informs me and while my heart swells with pride and the my mind searches for an answer he looks up at me with his smile and says "I would protect YOU, Mom".

Then the other day he comes to me and says 'bye Mom, going to schhol" He's got a little backpack on and he's off to pretend school. "bye, have fun" I say, playing along. A few minutes later he's back. "Hi Mom, I'm home." "Oh hi, how was school today?"
"Good, we went on a field trip."
"Wow, that sounds like fun, where did you go?"
"We went to the pool."
"Very fun, how did you like it?"
"Well, Mom, you forgot to pack my swim stuff so I could only watch"
"Oh, I am so sorry"
"Next time, Mom, when we go on a field trip to swim, could you remember my swim stuff?"
"I'll try"

I felt so guilty for not packing his swim stuff in his make believe world, but he cracks me up with the stuff he comes up with.

I have one more story, the other night he comes in my room while he is supposed to be sleeping and he says
"I know why we have a roof"
I look at him, he continues on
"So when it rains, we won't get wet."
"That's true." I say
He expounds on his idea "If it's raining, we would need a lid, and so that's why we have a roof"
"Yes, now go back to bed."

He adds many smiles to my day and much joy to my heart.
(I'll leave the frustrations he brings my way for another day).

So many questions, so little patience

I'm a decisive person, at least I think I am. Sometimes. Well, not always. The problem with not being very decisive is that I'm the mother of 3, two of whom hurl questions at me all day long. So as a way of introducing myself to all of you I thought I would give you a list of the questions that have been directed my way in the last 24 hours. (not in chronilogical order, though).
Mom, can I have some juice?
Mom, can we go outside?
Mom, can I play playstation?
Mom, can I play XBox?
Mom. can I have a waffle?
Mom, can I have something out of the vending machine?
Why do we have to go home after church, instead of just going straight to lunch?
Mom. can we roll the windows down?
Mom, can I have some juice?
Mom, can my brother sleep in my bed?
Mom, can we watch TV?
Mom, can I have some juice?
Mom, can you make us some popcorn?
Mom, will buy us a treat?
Mom, I'm hungry. (more of a staement, but I think is actually meant to be a question)
Mom, do you have paper?
Mom, where are the scissors?
Mom, can Dad play outside with us?
Mom, can I have some juice?
Mom, can we play in the pool?
Mom, can I have a friend over?
Mom, can my brother read me a book?
. . . and the list goes on and on and on and then they opened package of Pringles with the animal facts on them and I had to attempt to answer those questions:
how many feathers does a peacock have? (200)
how long is a giraffe's tongue?(21 inches)
what color is a polar bear's skin(black)

I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing, (again, see how decisive I am) to have animal facts on food. My son had to eat the whole thing because he had to find out all the animal facts. Maybe I could get them put on carrots!!

let the blogging begin

I have been reading blogs for almost a month now and have decided to join the ranks. As each day goes by I think "I could blog this!" I just hope it is as interesting out on my blog as it seems to be in head!
